Use the following flamenco step as a marcaje, a marking step, or as a remate, an accent or close.⁣

To use this step as a marcaje:

Repeat the above sequence a couple of times.⁣

⁣To use it as a remate:

Do the combination just once when the singer takes a respiro, a break, as they finish a line of cante, or when the guitar resolves. ⁣

Let’s break it down:

Steps & Counts:⁣

12 step right leg out ⁣

1 ⁣hold⁣

2 ⁣hold⁣

3 right leg comes together with left leg so that your body is at a 45° angle ⁣

⁣4 ⁣hold⁣

⁣5 ⁣⁣hold⁣⁣

⁣6 tap right planta (ball of the foot) in with foot closed⁣

⁣7 ⁣tap right planta out with an open foot ⁣

⁣8 ⁣tap right planta in again⁣

⁣9 tap right planta out again⁣

⁣10  tap right planta in again⁣

⁣🪭 Abanico movements:

⁣Begin with your abanico closed.⁣

⁣12 open fan ⁣

⁣1 hold

⁣2 ⁣hold⁣

⁣3 close fan⁣

4 spin fan⁣

5 keep spinning for 2-3 times total⁣

⁣6 close fan ⁣

⁣7 open fan⁣

⁣8 close fan ⁣

⁣9 open fan ⁣

⁣10 close fan ⁣
