After all of the practice is complete and it comes time to perform, which part of getting ready for a flamenco show do you like best,
Getting dressed up,
Doing your makeup, or
Doing your hair?
While you’re thinking on that, here’s how I got the sun-kissed springtime look you see here.
How To Get This Look:
STEP ONE:
Prep Eyelids.
Apply a light shade of liquid concealer to each eyelid then blend with the fingers.
STEP TWO:
Eyeshadow.
Apply light shades of eyeshadow. I used a couple of neutral shades of powder eyeshadow my upper lids to begin, light pink on top with tan in the crease.
STEP THREE:
Foundation.
Apply foundation. I used my fingertips to put on this fragrance free foundation.
STEP FOUR:
Conceal.
Apply concealer to cover any blemishes or spots. (Use a shade similar to your skin tone for this.)
STEP FIVE:
A Touch of Sun.
Apply bronzer to cheeks. For more color, you can dust or dab a bit on the forehead, nose, and chin as well.
STEP SIX:
Brighten and lighten.
Apply highlighter to select areas. Add to the tops of the cheekbones, nose, chin, and forehead. I used powder highlighter, but cream will work instead. Don’t have highlighter? No problem. Just use your lightest eyeshadow shade.
STEP SEVEN:
Bring out the eyes.
Apply eyeliner to upper and lower lids to enhance the eyes. I like to combine liquid eyeliner and eye pencil for maximum effect. I lined both upper and lower lids with liquid eyeliner then enhanced the outer edges of the eyes with black eye pencil. Blend the pencil with a sponge tip or brush. This eye pencil glides on easily and has a built in smudge tip. Liquid eyeliner can quickly give a defined look which is great for flamenco. This one glides on easily. (And it’s being discontinued, so you can get it on super sale right now!)
STEP EIGHT:
Intensify the eye area.
Apply darker shades of shadow. (I used a slate grey on the bottom outside of the lids.)
STEP NINE:
Enhance the brows.
Apply eyebrow pencil and gel to build up and define the brows. I used brow pencil followed by brow gel to make my brows stand out.
STEP TEN:
Clean up under the eyes.
Apply concealer under the eyes to conceal darkness. Use a shade or so lighter than your skin tone under eyes.) I often like to do this after I’m finished putting on the majority of my eye makeup because I usually make mistakes as I go. (This way I don’t waste the concealer when I erase them with eye makeup remover.)
STEP ELEVEN:
Lashes.
Put the finishing touch on your eyes with mascara. I used this volumizing mascara which is great because it doesn’t run.
STEP TWELVE:
Lip Color!
Apply lipstick to bring it all together. For this springtime look I went for bright pink and used this shade, Garden Party.
STEP THIRTEEN:
Shine.
Apply a clear or light colored lip gloss for a bit of shine. (This Quartz Shimmer or one of these jellies are good options.)
(I used all Beautycounter makeup*.)
