Don’t you love watching the musicians dance during the fin de fiesta?
In the clip below you get to see percussionist Luis Amador dance a pataíta which is sure to make you smile. Then be wowed as you watch Pastora Galván do her thing.
Enjoy!
Here the first letra Juañares sings for Luis to dance to:
Bulerías
Traditional
Quien mal anda mal acaba
En casita del jabonero
él que no cae, resbala
This letra consists of a couple of different sayings put together.
The first line, and first saying, means that one gets what one deserves.
In other words, if you treat others poorly, things won’t end well for you.
The second saying in the final two lines translates to:
In the soap maker’s home,
he who doesn’t fall will slip
I found many takes on this one, but the idea that your bad acts will catch up with you seems to fit best with the first saying.
That is, if you commit a wrongdoing, you’ll eventually bear the blame. (An interpretation found here.)
Here are a couple of other takes I found:
If you walk into a challenging situation, you’ll likely end up in some hot water. (Found here.)
We all have our faults no matter what, or everybody messes up sooner or later. (Found here.)
I also wondered if it could mean, tread carefully, if you hang around in the wrong place/with the wrong crowd, trouble will surely follow.
What do you think?
Let me know in the comments below.
(Thanks to Toma Flamenco where I found the full words to this one.)
