Want to get flamenco glamorous but don’t have a lot of time?
No problem.
It can be done.
During sherry week back in November, I did a fun collaboration with Speed Rack where I gave a flamenco demo and mini-lesson before mixologist Lauren Paylor taught us how to get creative making sherry cocktails with Lustau sherries. It was so. much. fun.
It was a morning show, and I really rushed through my makeup application.
But it still turned out fine.
Below I explain how I got the look you see. And while it may seem like a lot of steps, it didn’t take more than ten to fifteen minutes to do.
If you wanted to save time, you could omit the eyeshadow altogether and just go with liner. You could also leave out the highlighter to save time.
If you’re really short on time, and need to do even less, be sure at the very least to apply eye liner and lipstick.
How To Get This Look:
Flamenco Makeup in 10 Minutes
(I used all Beautycounter makeup*.)
STEP ONE:
Prime Eyelids.
Apply a light shade of liquid concealer to each eyelid then blend with the fingers.
STEP TWO:
Shade the eyes. (Leave this step out to save time)
Apply lighter eyeshadow shades. I used three shades of powder eyeshadow my upper lids to begin. From top to bottom: 1. Light pink 2. Tan 3. Taupe
STEP THREE:
Smoothen that complexion.
Apply foundation or tinted moisturizer. I used this tinted moisturizer because I wanted a dewey sheen with just a hint of color. Use foundation if you desire more coverage.
STEP FOUR:
Conceal. (Leave this step out to save time)
Apply concealer to cover any blemishes or spots. I skipped this step.
STEP FIVE:
Get sun kissed.
Apply bronzer to areas where you desire more color. I put it on my cheeks, forehead, nose, and chin.
STEP SIX:
Brighten and lighten. (Leave this step out to save time)
Apply highlighter to select areas. Definitely do the tops of the cheekbones and if you have more time, swipe your nose, chin, and forehead. I used this powder highlighter on the top of my cheeks alone. NOTE: If you don’t have time for eyeshadow or want to use fewer products, you can use a bit of highlighter on your upper lids instead.
STEP SEVEN:
Make those eyes stand out.
Apply eyeliner to upper and lower lids to enhance the eyes. Combine liquid eyeliner and eye pencil for maximum effect. I lined both upper and lower lids with liquid eyeliner then enhanced the outer edges of the eyes with black eye pencil. Blend the pencil with a sponge tip or brush. I like this eye pencil because it glides on easily and has a built in smudge tip. I love liquid eyeliner because it gives a defined look, perfect for flamenco, and this one glides on so easily.
STEP EIGHT:
Add darker shadows. (Leave this step out to save time)
Apply darker shades of shadow at this point. (I used a slate grey on the bottom outside of the lids for a bit of extra drama.)
STEP NINE:
Fill in brows.
Apply eyebrow pencil and/or gel to define and make the brows stand out. You can also combine the two. I used brow pencil alone here.
STEP TEN:
Brighten undereyes.
Apply concealer under the eyes to conceal darkness. I like to do this after I’m finished putting on the majority of my eye makeup in case I make mistakes, which I almost always do. (I erase them with eye makeup remover.) . If I apply the concealer first, I almost always end up wasting it because I have to reapply.
STEP ELEVEN:
Lashes.
Put the finishing touch on your eyes with mascara. I used this volumizing mascara which I love because it doesn’t run.
STEP TWELVE:
Bring out the lips.
Apply lipstick, and you’re good to go. I chose berry red, Little Black Dress. If you want some shimmer you can top it off with lip gloss, which is what I did.
Remember if you need to save time, the best things to omit would be concealer, eyeshadow, and highlighter.
