Do you practice your flamenco hand movements?
Practicing 'manos' is a must for every flamenco dancer.
Not sure where to begin?
Start with this video:
The good news is that there are many ways to move the hands in flamenco.
Like other stylistic elements of flamenco dance, there is plenty of room for individuality in this area.
But here are some general tips:
Move the hands in isolation from the arms.
Rotate the hands in a circular motion.
Fan your fingers beginning with your pinky or with your pointer finger.
Sometimes you may choose not to move the fingers at all.
Experiment, and see what you like.
So set aside time to practice hand technique.
And practice a lot until you no longer have to concentrate on your hand movements, so you can focus on the steps!
