Tangos Footwork Pattern with Redobles [Flamenco Dance Steps]

Want to practice your redoble (roll)?

Here’s a tangos footwork pattern that incorporates the flamenco redoble.

You may use this step as an exercise or even as a remate in your dance.⁣⁣

There are different ways to perform the redoble in flamenco.

This version begins with a tacón (heel) followed by two quick golpes (stomps) and one more golpe.⁣

Check out the video tutorial below:

A note:

The slow part of the video is intended to show you the mechanics of the step, so the rhythm is inconsistent. The numbers on the screen are there to help you see which steps go with which beats.⁣

Things to consider:

Be sure to relax your leg for the two golpes of the redoble. This will make it much easier.

If you choose to use this as an exercise, I recommend repeating the same thing starting on the right side and alternating between the two.⁣

If you choose to use it in your dance as a remate, you could use the second compás alone or even the end of the second compás.

How will you use this step? ⁣

Side note:

Frances the Kitty Cat only enjoys flamenco when she gets to be a part of it. 😹
