La Noche de la Nochebuena | The Weekly Letra
Last week I mentioned this was coming…
Campanilleros
Traditional
En la noche de la Nochebuena,
los campanilleros por la madrugá
Me despiertan con sus campanillas
y con sus guitarras me hacen llorar.
Y con devoción,
van tocando zambombas, panderos,
cantando coplas al niño de Dios.
The night of Christmas Eve,
the bell ringers wake me
at dawn with their bells,
and with their guitars they bring me to tears.
And with devotion,
they play zambombas, tambourines,
singing songs to the Son of God.
The zambomba referred to in today’s letra is a percussive instrument, but a zambomba is also a traditional Christmas celebration in Jerez and surrounding areas.
You can listen to the letra here.
